Who am I? Only the Lord knows because every day I learn something new about myself. I am a work in progress. I fall down and I get up. I mess up, and I try to fix it. I have operated at my best and my worst, with and without God. I am the furthest thing from perfection, and I am okay with it; that is what makes me unique.
My name is Dr. Kelly Cornish aka Dr. Kelz. I am from a small town in Southern New Jersey, and I have a dream. I am a mother of three beautiful children. I am currently an Assistant Principal (est. 2024). Previously, I was a special education teacher since 1998, focusing my career on at-risk youth in behavioral classrooms, then shifting to an assignment that allows me to impact the lives of many more students. I am also a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in New Jersey. I have spent my entire career and personal life sowing into others, so I guess that means my purpose on earth is to help ENCOURAGE and EMPOWER others to EVOLVE!
I knew early on in my life I had a gift to help others, I just did not understand what to truly do with it other than to help when I was called upon. I spent many years putting the needs of others before mine with the inability to create a balance in my life. All I knew was work and help even at the cost of forgetting about me. I know now God designed me to help others with their situations, even when I could never quite fix my own. I know it is ironic, but it is true. I was viewed as a role model, but was ashamed to ask for help with my own situations. I wore a mask daily, so I was not dependent on the reciprocity of others. When I found God, His love, wisdom, understanding, and forgiveness has allowed me to accept all of me and EVOLVE into what He designed me to become, a well-balanced individual full of experiences and knowledge to help other people. The journey has been long and hard, but I have found I am a warrior woman. I found that I am a true representation of determination, courage, perseverance, and strength. I found that I can learn from my mistakes and circumstances and invest those experiences into someone else. My inner desire screams ENCOURAGE and EMPOWER others to EVOLVE, so Three Eighteen, LLC was established in 2018.
I earned an Associates degree in Community Service (AAS), a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (BSW), two Master’s degree in Educational Administration and Supervision (M.Ed) and in Clinical Mental Health (MS), and a Ph.D. in Human & Social Services. Beyond my degrees, my life experiences are priceless. Not only did I deal with others, I had to deal with myself, something which is painful. In order to grow I had to allow myself to feel. I had to shift the paradigm that I created in order to move away from what was hurting me most, me. My experiences are what make me unique and qualify me to ENCOURAGE and EMPOWER others to EVOLVE through EDUCATION and ENLIGHTENMENT.
